Public Session in Appeal Case Against Dodik and Lukic Scheduled for June 12

The public session of the Appellate Division panel in the case against the accused Milorad Dodik and Miloš Lukić has been scheduled for June 12, the Court of BiH announced today.

On February 26, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina handed down a first-instance verdict against the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, sentencing him to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding political office as the President of the RS. The acting director of the Official Gazette of the RS, Miloš Lukić, was acquitted.

The indictment, filed in 2023, charges Dodik and Lukić with systematically undermining state authority by enacting laws that “separate” the RS from the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of BiH and refuse to recognize the decisions of the High Representative of the international community. The BiH Prosecutor’s Office claims that these laws directly threatened the sovereignty of the state and paved the way for the de facto secession of the RS.
