Russian President Vladimir Putin told the United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump that he would freeze the front line in the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in exchange for the Donetsk region.
According to media reports, the Russian leader made this request during his meeting with Trump in Alaska on Friday, citing four people directly familiar with the talks.
In a statement published earlier on Saturday on the social network X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said:
“All issues important for Ukraine must be discussed with the participation of Ukraine, and no issue, especially territorial, can be decided without Ukraine.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will meet with Trump in Washington on Monday, had earlier warned that Russia could intensify attacks on Ukraine after the summit in Alaska.
European leaders, who insist on security guarantees for Ukraine, were also invited to the meeting.
