Reactions after the Announcement of the Gathering on Entity Lines

After the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina called on the citizens of Republika Srpska to block four road routes on the entity line today at 6:00 p.m., a series of reactions followed.

As the entity line was mentioned in the gathering announcements, Federal Minister of the Interior Ramo Isak stated that it cannot be blocked, and gatherings will be prevented, and if necessary, they will seek the help of international forces.

The MoI of Sarajevo Canton announced earlier the reasons for banning the gathering in front of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to non-fulfillment of conditions, they also cited a security issue.

“The competent police body assesses that due to the holding of the public meeting in question, there would be a real danger of disturbing public order and peace on a larger scale,” stated the CS MoI.

The MoI of Republika Srpska also reacted to this.

“The MoI of Sarajevo Canton did not ask us for any information when it comes to the security of the gathering itself. In my estimation, I think they were guided here more by a political decision than by a security problem,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska Siniša Karan.

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, also reacted, pointing out that Isak’s statements go beyond the scope of his competence, and that he cannot prohibit gatherings on the territory of Republika Srpska.
