Deputy Commander of Operational Command of the Armed Forces of BiH, Brigadier General Ivica Karamarko, said that the equipment that OSBiH received from UNDP is extremely important and that it is the equipment that OSBiH asked for and that will serve to improve the capacity and capability in demining, especially when it comes to new methods – targeted technical survey.

“This is what is important for us and that will help us to fulfill very demanding plan when it comes to productivity,” said Jerkic.

Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Zahira Virani emphasized that the mines that are left in BiH not only pose a threat to human life, but also prevent the use of land for economic or any other growth.

Virani said that the value of equipment that UNDP donated is nearly 400,000 BAM and that this equipment will help Demining Battalion to continue the excellent work they have performed so far, adding that these activities are only one part of the activities that UNDP is carrying out in this area.
