strbacki-bukIn the first eight months of this year, the National Park “Una” reported record results, and the number of visitors was higher by 20 % than last season, which was also a record one.

Una River and its waterfalls are increasingly on the list of potential tourist destinations, and the numerous parameters indicate that there is increase in the interests of visitors and tourists for the national park, both individual and collective.

“When it comes to the number of visits recorded, 2015 was a record year and we achieved 50,000 visits with paid tickets. By the end of August this year, we have reached that figure and we increased the number of visits as of today for approximately 20 % compared to the previous year. So we can say that this year is again a record one,” said Amarildo Mulic, the director of the National park “Una”.

Increase of the number of tourists means a lot to the national park, but also the entire tourism industry in the Una-Sana Canton, especially since there was no significant infrastructure investments in the national park recently, which Mulic considers for priority.

“These infrastructure projects are primarily related to securing better road communication within the National park, and adequate access to the most attractive destinations, especially Strbacki buk,” said Mulic.

Continued growth of the visit is certainly contributed by the fact that more and more organizers and travel agencies are including the National Park “Una” in their offer.

“Tourists and visitors are mostly coming from BiH and the region. Of course, we have a significant number of tourists from EU countries or from countries that traditionally gravitate towards this region. These are guests from Italy, Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, but there is also increase in the number of tourists from France and Spain. Of course, we are recording the increase in the number of tourists from Arab countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain,” stated Mulic.

When it comes to the average number of days that tourists spend in the area of USC and the National Park “Una”, Mulic says that there is no official data, but he noted that tourists, on average, stay for around two days in our country.
