The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, and the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic and Milorad Dodik, met today with the Secretary for Relations with the Holy See, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher.

The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanked for the material, spiritual and political help and support that the Holy See has been providing to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 30 years, and for advocating interreligious dialogue, tolerance and equality of all denominations.

Pope Francis shows great interest in the socio-political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and strongly supports coexistence in BiH, emphasizing that diversity is a wealth, Gallagher said.

Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Gallagher also discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, its path to the European Union, for which, as said, there is a consensus, and the demographic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina society in general.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stated that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Vatican are extremely good and friendly, with space for additional strengthening and intensification.

Gallagher is on a four-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will visit the bishop’s three seats, in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, where he will celebrate Mass in cathedrals with the intention of peace, justice, reconciliation and progress in every sense.
