gorazdeThe organization board of the manifestation “Grebak 2014” organized today at 11:00 o’clock an appropriate program so everyone could remember the hardest period Goražde and B&H went through in its recent history.

It will also be a chance for the young generations to see the importance of Grebak so it could never be forgotten or repeated – by the news agency Patria.

During the war years from 1992 to 1994 the road through Grebak was the only road where food supplies and medications were delivered to the population of besieged Goražde. The soldiers of the Army of B&H managed to provide the “Road of life” Goražde-Grebak-Igman-Trnovo-Pazarić with the help of the units of Goražde and the 1st corpus.

Even to this day, Grebak represents a symbol of the hard period that the population of Goražde went through and the fight to survive and be equal. According to assessments made, 30 000 people passed through Grebak and found shelter in the free territories of RB&H but in some other European countries as well.

Many others civilians were killed from the ambushes also on that road; or they lost their lives because of the hunger, exhaustion or cold.

This morning, dozens of citizens headed towards that destination and from Sarajevo, there were also organized departures from some locations.
