srebrenicaWe are pleased to announce the details of Remembering Srebrenica’s inaugural lecture series, which will take place between 4-6 June at three key locations across London.

The tour brings Adam Boys, director of international programmes at the Sarajevo-based International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP), and genocide survivor Muhamed Durakovic, together with Professor Eric Gordy, senior lecturer at University College London. Between them, they will be discussing the question of genocide, focusing on the events at Srebrenica, tackling difficult subjects such as genocide denial, and considering the important work that the ICMP is undertaking in Srebrenica. Mr Durakovic will offer a reflective aspect to the tour, providing details of his own harrowing story as a survivor of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide.

Lectures are being hosted by Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece at the House of Lords, Dr Akil Awan, lecturer in Modern History and Terrorism, at the Royal Holloway, University of London, and the young professionals network, City Circle.

The tour is part of our growing education initiative. Alongside our continuing Lessons from Srebrenica programme, which sees us take small groups of delegates to Bosnia & Herzegovina, we are pursuing new avenues to help bring the valuable lessons we can learn from the Srebrenica genocide to a wider audience.
