Works on renovation of the most famous Mostar’s Hotel Rose on several occasions began and stopped. The last phase of work, on the pleasure and joy of many people from Mostar, started last month. Hotel Rose in a new light should shine in the middle or end of next year.
“Everything happens in desired course. You know that the work finally began last month. Their completion is scheduled for the optimal variant in mid-2016, and the normal variants, in September next year. It will be a wonderful hotel with five plus stars, and the pride of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina “, said a representative of investors, Enver Backović.
Renovation of the hotel began ten years ago, and UNESCO once refused to give consent for continuation of works, given that grandiose hotel did not fit in the old town, which is under the protection of the organization. In September last year, the owner of the hotel, Emir Kečo, said that there are no more obstacles for the resumption of construction of this facility. In Sarajevo, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the General Director of Turkish Ziraat Bank, Huseyin Aydin, and General Director of BH Ziraat Bank, Ali Riza Akbas on conditions for support to the investor of the project of hotel construction in the amount of 20 million EUR. Kečo said that construction should be completed in a maximum of two years.
Right after the completion of the works, Rose will almost certainly become part of a large hotel chain Sheraton, based in Turkey. As announced, the realization of this project is planning to open 173 new workplaces. The representatives of the Hilton, according to our information, are coming in Mostar in mid-May, in order to familiarize with the situation at the site and the pace at which the work is taking place. Rose Mostar, as announced, will be the most modern hotel of the chain in the region.
“I am very happy that hundreds of young people for a year or two will get a permanent job. On the other hand, this hotel is the pride of our city and one of its symbols, which is slowly but surely returning after aggression and terrible destruction that we somehow survived,” said Nermin, who we met near the hotel.
Construction workers say they work every day, without stopping.
“We do not have the slightest objection on anything. I’m happy to contribute to the reconstruction of the hotel with my dedication and knowledge. This hotel was one of the most beautiful buildings in our town, in my childhood,” said one of the employees of the construction company MIP from Mostar, who is contractor on the hotel Rose.
