In Trnopolje near Prijedor the centre for cultivation of Norwegian Red Cattle “Arifagić Investment” was officially open. It’s one of the most modern centres of this kind in the Western Balkans, worth 10 million BAM.
The loan was assured by the Turkish Ziraat bank BH in april 2012. The director of the company, Jusuf Arifagić, businessman from Norway was born in Kozarac, B&H.
“My main motive for this project was to make something modern and pro-European in the place where I was born and to bring this country the possibility to get a job. I also wanted to show that we are, no matter what, people who can live and work together, and I believe I succeeded.” – said Arifagić at the opening.
He pointed out that a successful country which has prosperity can only be developed by its citizens and that there is no use in waiting for Europe to do something good for it.
The Norwegian ambassador to B&H Anne Lilloe Vibeke pointed out that the economic development and opening new working places is very important for B&H while the agriculture plays an important role in the economic and social domains of the Western Balkan countries.
She stated that this new company currently hires 30 persons but there will be even more of them in the future. There is 500 cows at the farm; in February started the milk production which is a basis of the modern agricultural production. – she added.
The cattle came from the Norwegian agricultural Association “Geno Global”. Their executive director Tur Arnes Letmoen said that they have been cultivating this unique breed of cattle for the past 80 years. They sold it this year in more than 25 countries.
