Representative in the HoR on the Attacks on Returnees: There have always been Incidents and there always will be

Representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Milan Petkovic (United Srpska) said that an emergency session to discuss the threat to the rights of Bosniak returnees in the Republika Srpska (RS) entity was unnecessary.

Petkovic stated that it is possible that there are individual incidents, but that there are many more of them against the Serbs in the Federation of BiH (FBiH).

“I personally know of a large number of violations of the rights of Serbs in the municipalities of Bosanski Petrovac, Drvar, and Glamoc, not to mention some other local communities. I defended certain Serbs from the FBiH who the authorities tried to accuse and convict of crimes they did not commit, but were only expressing their religious and national feelings,” said Petkovic.

According to him, “there have always been and there will always be certain incidents”, and if there are, then it should be left to the judicial institutions, and not for the House of Representatives to discuss it, because this only aims to further spread some kind of hatred and intolerance in BiH.

“I believe that nothing can be solved by this, especially since it is not the competence of the BiH Parliament. We will just waste another day and the session of the House of Representatives on a topic that is not and should not be on the agenda,” Petkovic believes.

An emergency session of the House of Representatives of the PABiH is scheduled for Thursday, September 21st, at which the representatives should consider the proposal of measures and activities to improve the safety of returnees in BiH.

A group of representatives requested that the House of Representatives consider the frequent attacks on returnees on the territory of the RS and the proposal of measures and activities to improve their security in BiH.

The request for convening an emergency session with this item on the agenda was sent by delegates: Edin Ramic, Semsudin Dedic, Milan Dunovic, Semsudin Mehmedovic, Safet Keso, Zlatan Begic, Denijal Tulumovic, Amor Masovic, Vlatko Glavas, Serif Spago, Nermin Mandra, Jasmin Emric, Midhat Causevic, and Elvisa Hodzic, Klix.ba reports.
