religion summitRepresentatives of the four religions in BiH last night, from the platform in Sarajevo, sent a message of peace, noting that every religion must follow an order that man should be protected with secured dignity.

Archbishop of Vrhbosna Archdiocese Vinko Puljic said that forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace-building must be the focus of any religious representative.

“It is important for us to send a positive message because people are tired of negative ones. It does not mean that we will change the world, but we want to send a message of peace from the religion we teach,” said Puljic.

Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein Kavazovic said that the role of religious leaders is to call for a lasting peace and good, and turning away from what may be harmful to people and the community.

“We must fight for peace and for understanding among people,” said Kavazovic, stating that religious leaders are speaking to each other and treating each other with much respect.

The President of the Jewish Community in BiH Jakob Finci noted that BiH has a future even though the situation is difficult.

“Policies and religious communities in it have space and opportunities to act,” said Finci.

He emphasized that public discussions that gather religious representatives and faithful will not change anything significantly, but it is good to see that relations between religious communities exist and that they are not interrupted.

Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Primorje Gregorije rated gathering of religious leaders with the intention of sending messages to the believers, and the entire society, as significant.

The public discussion ” The role of religious leaders in the liberation of people from hatred and nationalism’ was’ organized by the Catholic Theological Faculty in Sarajevo.
