HDZ BiH Deputy President Borjana Krišto stated that at today’s meeting of political leaders of parties in power at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was agreed that a session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH would be scheduled for August 22, where a set of harmonized European laws would be discussed.
“During this time, we agreed on a large set of European laws that are in the parliamentary procedure, which went from the Council of Ministers to the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We agreed that a session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament would be scheduled for August 22, where those laws that are already in the parliamentary procedure would be discussed,” said Krišto after the meeting held in Sarajevo.
According to her, agreement was also reached on the formation of working groups that should work on a set of laws concerning the rule of law, that is, laws in the field of justice in a broader sense.
“Working groups should be formed at the level of the BiH Council of Ministers, which would also include representatives of the executive authorities from the entity level. I hope that as soon as these laws are harmonized, and they are already largely agreed, they should meet at the session of the Council of Ministers and then be referred to the parliamentary procedure,” stated Krišto.
She emphasized that today it was agreed and that this type of dialogue, or conversation, will continue, so that before the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 22, a meeting should be held at the same level, hosted by SNSD President Milorad Dodik.
“At that meeting, we should determine and repeat everything that we agreed on today in some way. I am convinced that a strong step forward will be made when it comes to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all the reform laws that are needed by everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for the European path,” Kristo pointed out.
Nikšić: The conversation has no alternative
The President of the SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, said that there is no alternative to talks, and that tonight they managed to agree on a set of European laws which, if adopted, will make a huge step forward on the way to the EU.
“Of course, it would not be the first time that we agree on something and it is not fulfilled. We will do everything, we will have another meeting before the session of the House of Representatives, so that the set of laws has passability, which would be a quality decision according to the partners in the European Commission that the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina want to work on fulfilling the 14 priorities and conditions necessary for candidate status and EU membership in the foreseeable future,” Nikšić told reporters in Sarajevo.
Dodik: Filling of the BiH Council of Ministers on August 22
SNSD leader Milorad Dodik announced tonight that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be filled on August 22.
“We are coming out of a period of great uproar. We will pass the law on the ombudsman, we will resolve the law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council through the collegium, and we will also resolve the law related to access to information,” said Dodik.
He said that at the meeting it was agreed that the “Berlin process” would result in two agreements that should be confirmed by the competent authorities beforehand.
Dodik confirmed that working groups will be formed with regard to all segments of the judiciary, which will have the task of proposing laws or legal solutions that should be adopted through the procedure as foreseen.
“Of course, during that period, procedures should also be prepared and procedures may be initiated to fill certain structures from the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other institutions as far as the judiciary is concerned,” explained Dodik.
He repeated that all this was agreed today and that he stands behind it, as well as that he is ready to work on it.
The meeting, which was held in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was attended by SDP BiH president Nermin Nikšić and member of the Main Board Saša Magazinović, HDZ president Dragan Čović and deputy party president Borjana Krišto, SNSD leader Milorad Dodik and vice president of that party Željka Cvijanović, Naša party leader Edin Forto, and People and Justice President Elmedin Konaković.
