Gas (Trebinje)The pipeline, which would bring the Russian gas to the southern route to Western Europe, avoiding Ukraine – is getting more certain. During a recent stay in Budapest, the Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the alternative route would go towards Turkey, bypassing Bulgaria and in Europe would arrive via Serbia and Hungary.

As confirmed for the RTRS, the Republic Srpska would be attached to this route. It was confirmed by the President of the Republic Srpska Milorad Dodik that the negotiations are still ongoing. In the next 10 days, the official agreement will be signed in Sankt Peterburg.

The Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Moscow say that they are familiar with the new idea and with negotiations between Moscow and Brussels on this subject. They confirm that, in the event of realization of the project, the route of the new pipeline would partly follow the route envisaged for South Stream. This would be realized in part through the Black Sea, but instead in ending in Varnain in Bulgaria, it would end on the Turkish-Greek border.

It is envisaged four pipelines to be used and to lead towards Turkey, of which only one will make gas for the needs of Turkey. The other three pipelines will be used for gas whose final destination will be Europe. The same volume of transportation was planned for South Stream as well, the only difference is the route which will now bypass Bulgaria.

“Following the signing of the basic conditions in September by the Prime Minister in Moscow, the detailed agreement and the official signing will be done in the next 10 days, added Puhalac,  Board of Director of the Genoil.

The next step, says Puhalac, is building of a new factory for compressing gas, for which there are already interested investors. They talked with Srbijagas on the possible increase of the capacity of an existing pipeline Batajnica-Sepak, which is currently used by about 20 percent capacity.
