Republika Srpska Government in Turmoil Again as Minic Resigns

The Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Savo Minić, resigned today, so that the election of the Government will take place again, for the third time in a short period of time.

Minić will also be the prime minister-designate for the election of the new Government.

“I consulted with the President of the Republika Srpska, Sinisa Karan, who said that he would nominate me as prime minister-designate and that the Government in this composition has support,” Minić said at a press conference.

He stressed that his decision was based on political maturity and strength, and that ‘those who do not wish well for the Republika Srpska have questioned the legality and legitimacy of the RS Government, although, as he says, everything was legal the first time.

Minić said that he also received support for this decision from the political parties in the ruling RS coalition.

Let us recall that Milorad Dodik nominated Savo Minić as the new prime minister-designate after the resignation of Radovan Višković, and the legality of the Government was then called into question because the CEC had previously stripped Dodik of his mandate as President of the RS.

Minić was again proposed as the person-designate by the acting President of the RS, Ana Trišić-Babić, and now it is also disputed that the RS Constitution does not provide for the position of acting President of the Republika Srpska at all.

Siniša Karan has been officially confirmed as the President of the Republika Srpska by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this time he has appointed Savo Minić as the person-designate for the composition of the new Government.
