Reuf Seferovic, a 28-year-old young man of Roma nationality, got a job at the public utility company “6. Mart” in Gorazde as part of the program of the Federal Employment Service. Thus he became the first Roma to get a job in Gorazde.

“This means a lot to me and my family, and I thank the mayor of Gorazde and the director of the utility company who welcomed me to the company. I have a three-year-old daughter, and my wife is pregnant, and I like it here. No one has ever complained about me and I will do my best to prove myself and stay in that company,” stressed Reuf Seferovic.

Haris Salo, director of public utility company ”6. Mart”, points out that Seferovic is currently engaged for six months, after which he will continue to work and will be offered a permanent contract.

“In this way, we want to motivate other Roma to work and show that they can be useful to this society. Reuf does his job very well, his colleagues praise him for his hard work,” mentionedSalo.

In the Center for Social Work of Bosnian-Podrinje Canton (BPC) Gorazde, they point out that with the aim of economic empowerment of the Roma national minority in the area of the canton, intensive work has been done in the past period to motivate all actors who can help in the employment of this population. Currently, there are six young members of the Roma population on the records of the Employment Service out of a total of nine able-bodied in the canton.

BPC Gorazde Prime Minister Aida Obuca organized a reception for Reuf and his family yesterday, where she emphasized the importance of Roma integration into society.

“I am especially glad that his mother Behara has children who go to primary school and that they are also involved in all segments of social life. We will do everything necessary to make members of the Roma nationality feel safe in BPC because they deserve all our attention, ” noted Obuca.

To recall, in 2017, the first child of Roma nationality was enrolled in one of the city’s primary schools, and today 11 of them attend classes regularly. Also, adequate accommodation was provided for a number of Roma families, Klix.ba writes.
