More than 600 pedestrians and cyclists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the region are participating in the sixth “Rotary Canyon” today.
“Rotary Canyon” is a tourist project in which pedestrians walk nine kilometers and cyclists drive 22 kilometers through the Una Canyon and enjoy untouched natural beauty, from the former Sedra Hotel in Bihać to the Green Islands in Bosanska Krupa.
The goal of this event, organized by the “Rotary Club” of Bihać, is to promote the natural beauty of the Una-Sana Canton, but also to point out the necessity of completing the main road Bihać-Bosanska Krupa.
“We have several goals, one of which is to enable the participants to enjoy the unreal beauty of Una and the fresh air. We launched the initiative to declare this region a nature park. In order for that to happen, it is necessary to complete the main road from Bihać to Bosanska Krupa, which has been under construction for thirty years, and it would be a faster and safer connection between these two cities”, explains Orhan Midžić, president of the “Rotary club” Bihać.
The completion of the road is also expected by many Krajišniks who drive through the canyon every day.
“I’m here today and I can’t help but admire the beauty of the Una and the landscapes. This can’t even be described. On the other hand, I often travel along this section, which is difficult and dangerous due to landslides, especially in rainy periods, which is why I don’t look at the environment. But that’s exactly why I’m here today, to enjoy, relax and promote the beauty of my region, says Anita Ibradžić from Bihać.
The interest in this year’s “Rotary Canyon” is greater than expected, which is why the organizers say that all those who wanted to be there today but were not able to, are certainly welcome next year.
