rotaryRotary Club Sarajevo is organizing the traditional donor “Concert for Excellence”, which is aiming to collect funds for scholarships for talented students of partner high schools. The concert will be held at the House of Armed Forces of B&H and it is intended for all lovers of traditional Bosnian sevdalinka songs and humanitarians.

Rotary Club is a worldwide organization that gathers people of different professional qualifications who are dedicated to humanitarian aims and who appreciate high ethical principles and spread good will. The idea came from a lawyer Paul Harris who founded the first club in Chicago back in 1905, while in Sarajevo it was founded in 1930. The main focus of the organization is youth, so this concert will be held for this purpose.

Rotary Club through is organizing exchange of students from B&H in the USA, Austria and Germany through its sub-clubs Rotaract and Interact as well as youth camps in Austria and Germany, where students have the opportunity to exchange their ideas, improve their language skills and make new friends. Money from the concert is intended for students’ scholarships for the next year.

“These are talented high school students who are excellent and exemplary students, and engaged in many other activities. When they are applying for scholarships, they must write essays as well. Scholarships are symbolic, but a nice introduction to gatherings with other scholarship recipients, they are entering the club to learn and follow ideas through which they will help the community and do something good for their peers,” said Neira Hodzic, coordinator of Service for youth of RCS.

“Concert for Excellence” will be held on Thursday, the 3rd of December, in the House of Armed Forces of B&H, and guitarist Bosko Jovic, violinist Vanja Radoja and clarinetist Mustafa Santic will be performing on this event. Each ticket also represents a donation of 50 BAM and a contribution to the Fund of the Rotary Club of Sarajevo for scholarships for talented students.
