U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrow that Europe must demonstrate political will to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine because words are not enough, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrow today to advance the path to peace in Ukraine,” Bruce said.

She added that Rubio praised France’s leadership in garnering European and Ukrainian support for a sustainable agreement, but made clear that words are not enough.

“Europe must mobilize real resources and political will to end this war,” Bruce said in a statement.

Rubio and Barrow also discussed efforts to free hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip and their shared commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
