The Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, will tonight speak via video link at the session of the United Nations Security Council, where the situation in BiH will be discussed at the request of Russia. Cvijanović will, as announced, at the session scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. CET, explain how Bosniaks, by advocating for the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica, are violating the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On April 23, the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency assessed in a letter to the Security Council that “the gross violation of the Dayton constitutional arrangement, which rests exclusively on the authority of force, and pandering to only one of the three peoples in BiH, leads to further divisions and directly threatens the continued existence of the country.”
In the letter, Cvijanović assessed that Bosnia and Herzegovina can move forward only with strict adherence to the constitutional provisions and that only its democratically elected institutions can be responsible for the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Speaking about the announced adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica, she stated in the letter that it was a flagrant violation of the prescribed procedure, because the Presidency of BiH, responsible for conducting foreign policy, never considered the issue, nor took an official position.
Cvijanović asked for an urgent session of the UN Security Council, where the political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina would be objectively assessed and solutions would be found for at least some of the issues facing Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the letter, she assessed that Christian Schmidt was “falsely presenting himself” as a high representative in BiH because his appointment was not confirmed by the UN Security Council.
At the session of the UN Security Council, High Representative will also speak, at the invitation of the US delegation to the UN.
“I have the responsibility to tell the international community what the situation is in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the moment. I will soon see how my report is discussed in the UN Security Council and I will contribute there,” Schmidt told Nova TV.
He added that he does not see the possibility of a military conflict in BiH and that the situation will remain peaceful.
The leader of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović also sent a letter to the ministers of foreign affairs of all UN member states, asking for support for the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly.
He stated that he sent the letter in his capacity as a former member of the BiH Presidency for two terms and as the president of the largest political party in BiH, which “to the greatest extent articulates the political will of Bosniaks”, Beta reports.
