US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today that the incursion of Russian drones into Polish territory was “unacceptable” and “dangerous”.

“The question is whether the drones had the goal of penetrating Poland. If so, then this is clearly a major escalation,” the senior US diplomat added.

He stressed that it would take “a few more days” to learn more about the incident.

The incursion of Russian drones into Poland on Wednesday night, according to the Polish government, is a provocation, an intensive violation of Polish airspace, but not aggression, so Poland does not consider itself at war with Russia, said Polish government spokesman Adam Slapka.

The remains of the drones were found in eastern and central regions of Poland, one just 60 kilometers from Warsaw.

In the village of Wiryki in eastern Poland, a drone hit a family home, destroying the roof and a bedroom, but fortunately two elderly Poles who live there were on the ground floor at the time of the drone crash.

No one was injured in the drone incursion, they mostly fell outside the settlement, only one small one landed without causing any damage to the rabbit cages in the yard of a family home.
