Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Director Sergey Naryshkin said the situation in the Balkans is very tense, primarily because of the returnees fighting on the side of terrorist organizations.

“International terrorism is a major common threat to Serbia and Russia,” said Russia’s first intelligence officer.

“They are looking for a new ground for action. That is why the security situation is very complex, both in Serbia and Russia. We exchange analytical assessments of the development of the situation in instability areas. We conduct complex joint operations to protect legitimate foreign, Serbian and Russian interests,” Naryshkin said, Klix.ba news portal reports.
