Sarajevo Airport in 2013 Broke Record for Number of Passengers

2013_aerodrom-sarajevoSarajevo Airport achieved a record number of passengers in 2013, which was 15 % more in comparison to 2012. The number of passengers during 2013 was 665.638, which is the largest number of passengers in the history of this company.

“2013 will be marked in the history of International Airport Sarajevo as one of the most successful business years of this company. This company has successfully achieved all the goals set in the beginning of 2013, thanks to the administration efforts and to the entire crew”, said the Director of the Airport Ivan Veličan.

Also, Sarajevo Airport has marked an increase of the number of airline operations. 5.512 operations are achieved in 2013, which is 4% more than in 2012.

The arrival of the airline company Scandinavian Airlines System (SAD), which is the leading airline company in Scandinavian countries, is expected in this airport in 2014. Also, negotiations will the largest low cost company in Eastern Europe, Wizz Air, which currently operates through Tuzla airport, are on going.

An increase of the charter flights number to three percent, as well as an increase in the number of regular airlines are foreseen for the period of World Football Championship in Brazil.

Apart from the successful business year, Airport Sarajevo in 2013 had a successful implementation of social practices, such as care for the local community, responsible attitude towards environmental protection, as well as through donations and sponsorships in field of sports, culture and charity.
