The Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, talked today with the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sergio Miniail.

“From the reserves of the City of Sarajevo planned in the budget for 2022, 20,000 BAM will be paid to Kiev to help the population,” Karic announced on Twitter.

Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which began on February 24, provoked the anger of the international community, and the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and the United States imposed economic sanctions on Moscow.

According to the United Nations, 227 civilians have been killed and 525 wounded in Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Ukrainian authorities estimate that more than 2,000 people died. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates that more than a million people have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries.
