Mayor of Sarajevo invited Citizens to celebrate together in Bascarsija

1_sarajevo_putovanjaThe capital of BiH is celebrating 555 years since its foundation, 72 years of liberation from fascism and 25 years since the beginning of the longest siege of a city after World War II on the 6th of April. Together with its brother cities, Sarajevo will celebrate this day with a number of cultural and sports events and festive session.

Delegations from Budapest, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Pula, Novi Pazar and the Municipality of Fatih from Istanbul and from cities of Zenica, Brcko, Mostar, and Zvornik will attend the ceremony and, together with representatives of the City of Sarajevo, lay flowers and pay tribute to the martyrs and veterans of Sarajevo.

Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka said that the city prepared a rich program for marking the 6th of April this year and that the celebration symbolically started yesterday morning when the representatives of the Government of CS and PUC Park and Rad started with the activity of cleaning the city.

“I want to invite all citizens to join us and to spend this day together solemnly and be hosts to all guests that are arriving. The city of Sarajevo, according to the international and regional media, is one of the top destinations this year,” said Mayor Skaka.

Birthday of our capital city will be marked with an exhibition of the gallery Collegium Artisticum in the organization of the Association of Visual Artists of BiH, as well as an exhibition in the Memorial Park Vraca, in the organization of the Historical Museum of BiH.

The special cultural event “Coffee with the Mayor” will be held on the 6th of April at 12:00 o’clock in Bascarsija, and representatives of the city invited all citizens to attend this gathering.

In the House of the Armed Forces will be held the 6th Sarajevo Guitar Fest, and the celebration will be completed with a party outdoors “I love Sarajevo” which will be held in front of BBI center.

The Committee for awarding the 6th April Award, chaired by Velija Katica, decided to give awards to Association Fama-Metodologija in the field of science and education, Dino Merlin in the field of culture and art and the Association for the protection of historical value Haber for their contribution in other areas. The decisions were taken unanimously. Awarding ceremony of 6th April Awards as well as Awards for the honorary citizen of Sarajevo Edmond Offerman will take place within the official part of the program.
