Sarajevo Citizens Formed Working Groups at Plenum and Prohibited Media

plenum_saCitizens of Sarajevo, who have been protesting for 11 days in front of the B&H Presidency building, gathered yesterday at 14:00 in Dom Mladih in order to form working groups of the citizens’ Plenum.

Around 200 citizens took part in the gathering, and several members of the Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99 gave their support.

Participants were invited to, if they wish to and feel they have the capacity, to connect to one of the working groups (inter-plenum cooperation, for media, formulating demands, legal issues, protests and logistics) in order to contribute to the work of the Plenum. The working groups will work on the premises of Dom Mladih, which is available for use until the end of this month.

‘’At the Plenum, everyone is equal and no one is above anyone else. They wish for us to disperse, but they will not succeed. Here are there too many intruders who want to destroy us, financed by this corrupt government, but they will not be able to. The chain of corruption includes the judiciary, prosecution and the police, so it is difficult for us to work. But we will not give up’’, said one of the representatives of citizens, and called on citizens of Sarajevo to join them at the protests and in the fight against corruption.

Even if it was announced on Saturday that the media could film and attend the Plenum, it was decided yesterday that the media would be prohibited from attending and filming the working groups. Representative of an informal group of citizens said that this was decided because many citizens have already received threats, and their employers threatened to fire them. They called on the intellectuals from Krug 99, whom they did not allow to make addresses, to be included in the work of the Plenum today, which is scheduled for 17:30 in Dom Mladih.
