Sarajevo Ambulance employees said goodbye to their 33-year-old colleague, Dr. Aida Softić, who died earlier this week when a rock fell on her car on the Sarajevo-Foča road.
Her colleagues traveled in a convoy of ambulances from their institution to the Vlakovo cemetery, where Softić’s funeral was held today and where she was buried.
“Today, Sarajevo silently follows the convoy of cardiomobiles, which passes through the city streets, sending off our dear colleague, Dr. Aida Softić, on her final journey. A person who left a deep mark on patients, colleagues and everyone who knew her with her expertise and dedication is leaving,” they said.
They described her as a quiet strength, a support in moments when she was needed most.
“Courage, responsibility and true humanity lived in her red uniform. As the column passes through the famous streets, we feel pain, but also gratitude that we had the honor of sharing the road with someone who carried his calling with his heart. The name of dear Aida will live on in every sound of the siren, in the silence of the on-calls, in every aspect of colleagues on the field. She will remain with us as an example of a presence that does not fade,” they added in the farewell message.
Employees of the Emergency Service also saw off their colleagues who had passed away earlier in a convoy of their cardiomobiles.
Aida’s father, who was driving the car, was injured in the accident. After this accident, the problem of the insecurity of the road Sarajevo – Foča became a reality again. It happened before that a rock on this road fell on a vehicle and killed someone.
