“The trigger for our protest is the missed chance for participation in the program “Erasmus +”. In order for this situations to not be repeated in the future, it is necessary to have one Ministry of Education at the state level because when one institution decides, that means to spare time, money and patience”, said in a statement for Fena Denis Challenger, a high school student in Sarajevo.
60 high school students gathered today in front of the B&H Parliament in Sarajevo to express their dissatisfaction in regards to the education system.
Representatives of this informal group of students stated that the trigger for this protest was the problem related to the “Erasmus” program, considering the fact that even they will become university students in half a year.
Also, there are opinions that the educational system in B&H is outdated and contains a lack of practical work, without which young people have no chance to progress and to fulfill employment conditions in accordance with world standards.
“Another request is that more money should be invested in youth education because if we do not have an educated youth then we have nothing and we have no future in B&H”, said Challenger.
He believes that the connectivity of labor market with faculties and employers and students is necessary, so they are not sent to employment offices.
