The pupils of the Middle School for Environment and Wood Design from Sarajevo represented our country at the 13th Alpe-Adria Forestry Olympics that was held in the Ossiach, Austria. Thanks to their placement and results, Sarajevo will host this event in 2019.
Pupils from this school are defending colours of our country for the fifth time in a row, and they will try to achieve the best placement possible against a strong competition that includes Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.
Engineer of forestry Dario Pintaric and coordinator of practical classes, Naser Gegic, conducted intensive training and education in with the team that won the first place at the Forestry Competition that was held in Kupres in 2017. This time, BH team included Vehid Huseinovic, Meho Nezir, Kenan Selimovic and Adel Godinjak in the following disciplines: precision cutting, combined cutting, chain replacement on a chainsaw and cropping of branches.
The team also received the support from the Faculty of Forestry from Sarajevo, headed by the dean Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbasic and prof. Dr. Osman Mujezinovic, who came to Ossiach to support our pupils.
“We also received a great logistical support from the Sarajevo Forest and the Protected Natural Areas of Canton Sarajevo that employ our students after they complete their education. We are very proud of the fact that the 14th Alpe-Adria Forestry Olympics will be held in the capital of BiH in 2019. We will be hosts because we managed to convince the organizers that we are serious partners and that we are protecting the profession in our region after long and intensive conversations,” said the director of the Middle School for Environment and Wood Design, Muamer Muratovic.
