The 25th International Judo Tournament “BIH and Nippon” was held in Sarajevo on Saturday at the Sports Hall “Goran Čengić”, jointly organized by the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Judo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opening ceremony was attended and addressed by Aiki Toshihiro, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Branislav Crnogorac, Director for Development of the European Judo Union and President of the Judo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The tournament was attended by 450 male and female competitors from 41 Judo clubs in several age categories.

The competition showed that judo in Bosnia and Herzegovina has a bright future, a large number of young judokas demonstrated sufficient judo knowledge, and their first official international results are expected.

Ahmed Jamak – Judo Club “Bosna” Sarajevo – was declared the best competitor of the tournament, who was awarded the traditional “SHANSHIRO SUGATA” Cup.

This tournament was preceded by a Judo seminar, also held in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and JICA – Japan International Cooperation Agency, attended by 300 young judokas, and the seminar was led by judo expert Shotaro Kogawa, assisted by BiH judo hero Larisa Cerić.

The autumn judo season has started very actively for Bosnian and Herzegovina judo, with the recent Balkan Senior Women’s Championship in Peć where we won first place in the team competition and gold, silver and two bronzes in the individual competition, bronze at the European Senior Women’s Cup in Skopje, a Judo seminar in Sarajevo, as well as the International Judo Tournament in Sarajevo, Zvornik, Bijeljina and Pale and the U23 National Championship in Sarajevo, Fena writes.
