140,025 passengers were serviced at the Sarajevo International Airport in July, which is a 28% increase compared to this month last year. The record of passengers in a month was broken, according to the Airport.

The number of flights in July was 1,412, which is 17% more than for the same month of last year. 260,813 kg of commercial cargo was services, which is a 65% increase compared to the same month last year.

From January 1st until June 31st, a total of 383,983 passengers were services, which is a 7% increase compared the same period in 2016. The number of flights in the first half year is 5,854, which is a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. 1,605,669 kg of commercial cargo was services, which is a 61% increase compared to the same period last year.

Considering the upcoming realization of various development projects of the Sarajevo International Airport and the fact that the capacities of the terminal building are soon to be reached, it’s necessary to note that the aforementioned results were achieved thanks to the incredible efforts of the airport employees.

Currently, there are around 20 airlines that have flights to and from Sarajevo.

“Despite harsh competition, we’re constantly working to attract new airlines and to adjust our approach to specific needs of each airline. As a result of that, in less than seven months of this year, five new airlines (WizzAir, Tuifly, Atlasglobal, Nesma Airlines and Wataniya Airways) have established flights from our airports. We are also in the process of negotiations with one of the largest airlines in the world, Qatar Airways. This trend of positive business, with an increased number of flights and passengers, are expected in the upcoming period,” they told us from the Sarajevo International Airport.
