Sarajevo International AirportPublic enterprise the Sarajevo International Airport achieved excellent business results in 2014, it was said at the press conference.

“Since 1996, when the Sarajevo Airport has been opened to civilian traffic, and when the airport recorded 26,000 passengers, to the present day, nearly eight million passengers went through the Sarajevo Airport.

In 2014, we had 709,901 passengers, achieving a historic success in airport’s operations,” said Ivan Veličan, General Manager of the Sarajevo International Airport.

He stressed that 2014 ended with excellent results, not only when it comes to the number of passengers but there was an increase in the number of flight operation and growth in all centers, so that the expected revenue for 2014 amounts to 6.5 million KM.

Veličan stated that successful business results significantly contribute to the introduction of new lines.

In this regard, today the Sarajevo International Airport is a host to 11 airline companies and additional number of charter flights.

During 2014 the airport introduced regular direct line from Sarajevo to Dubai, and in spring of this year the Sarajevo International Airport begins regular flights to Zurich and Geneva with Swiss Airlines.

“We shall achieve it, among other things, with opening new lines in 2015, which will result in increased traffic. Business plans for the future include investments in infrastructure, expansion of the capacity of the incoming gate and passport control area in departure in terminal B, raising the level of safety of passengers, aircraft, facilities, baggage and cargo,” said Veličan.
