Tourists from all over the world can already be seen on the streets of Sarajevo.

After the measures and blockades that were in force in the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, life is returning to the streets of Sarajevo, but also to other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Tourism is reviving, and the chairman of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Tourist Board, Kenan Magoda, believes that this will be the best summer season to date.

Sarajevo is full of tourists. I am encouraged that the four- and five-star hotels are almost full. I am sure we will have the best summer season. Various parameters indicate that, and the biggest sign is the new number of airlines at Sarajevo airport as they have certainly increased by 50 percent in previous years. This tells us that Sarajevo will soon be full of tourists from different parts of the world,” Magoda stressed.

Sarajevo Airport is constantly working to expand the number of lines and flights operated from Sarajevo to numerous destinations around the world.

“As for Europe, there are Warsaw, Paris, and London. So far, we have established direct contact with the Gulf countries, with Doha from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai as usual, and we are working to improve flights to Spain,” Magoda told.

He thinks that the peak of the season is during August.

“In August, in addition to the Sarajevo Film Festival, which is the biggest event in BiH, we will have a series of concerts that will be announced very soon. The concerts will be free, and world stars will perform,” said Magoda.

As he noted, during the summer in the CS, tourists from the Gulf countries dominate.

“There is also Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro. It is the top five countries with tourists who visit the CS the most. Tourists from Gulf countries are lovers of nature, and gastronomy, tourists from Turkey enjoy the charm of the Orient they have in Sarajevo, and they also love the surrounding mountains. So they are most attracted to the mountains, the gastronomy, and the charm of the Orient, “ Magoda added, Radio Sarajevo writes.
