The General Hospital “Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas” has provided an additional 30 beds within its Infectious Diseases Department to accommodate COVID-19 patients with mild and moderate clinical picture, and the first patients are already arriving in the newly formed ward, Klix.ba writes.

The director of this hospital, Ismet Gavrankapetanovic, said that residents of Sarajevo can be calm because they now have a part in the General Hospital that will always be available to them.

“We have been working on remodeling the hospital since the increase in the number of new infections has been noticed. We have also noticed a large number of neglected cases where we could not help patients due to delayed reactions. It is very important that the health system remains open at all times it does not stop by treating people with only one type of disease, in this case COVID 19 “, said Gavrankapetanovic.

He added that the General Hospital was currently seeking the employment of two infectologists and several nurses, while a larger number of employments is expected when the isolation ward is opened in the building of the former Army Medical Center at the General Hospital.
