Sarajevo received a sculpture of the famous inventor and engineer Nikola Tesla in a natural size. The sculpture is placed in front of the pub “Tesla” in the Municipality of Stari Grad and it already became a great place for taking photos.

The sculpture of Tesla was made by sculptor master Damir Sabic, and he made it at the initiative of the owner of the pub, Denis Stojnic.

Tesla “is sitting” and he looks like he is thinking, while a light bulb is placed in his lap. Stojnic said that the sculpture was created on the basis of photos on which Tesla sits and develops his genius ideas.

The sculpture already started drawing the attention of passers-by, and the children are happy to take a photo with him.

Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in Lika (Croatia), and he spent almost his entire life in the US. He died in New York on January 7, 1943. He graduated from Senior Technical School in Graz, and his first employment was the job of assistant engineer in Maribor. He worked all over Europe, and graduated from college in Paris. He worked in Edison’s laboratory in New York for a short while in 1884, and he founded his own company a year later.

He is famous for discovering first alternating current, developed AC generation and transmission technology, as well as radio signalling, etc. Although he was not respected as much as he deserved during his life, his name is now pronounced with great respect, and numerous associations, student and engineering organizations are preserving a memory of him. Numerous books and documentaries were dedicated to him.

His remains are placed in the Museum of Nikola Tesla in Belgrade.
