A device form magnetic resonance imagining (RMI) within the adapted premises of the old hospital pharmacy in the Sarajevo hospital “Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas“ was put into the operation yesterday.
As Sebija Izetbegovic, the director of the hospital, said, it is about the very important day for the hospital, and even more important for the huge number of patients.
“Magnetic resonance imagining in Canton Sarajevo has a waiting list of six to eight months, that is practically fatal for patients with certain hard diagnoses because it is very important to provide them as fast diagnosis as possible“, said Izetbegovic.
The purchase of the magnetic resonance imagining was supported by the financial plan of the Institute for Health Insurance of Canton Sarajevo.
“It is about the capital investments for the development of the institution and we got a big support from the Ministry of Health of CS and from the IHE as the main financier“, said Izetbegovic and emphasized that during the trial operation of the device, 104 examinations were done.
“In less than 15 days of the educative program, we did 104 examinations from the waiting list of patients who had a need for findings. Those were not 104 patients, there was slightly less of them, because some patients had two examinations. The need is great, but it must be clear that not all patients goe to the magnetic resonance imagining. It is practically the last step of the diagnostic and all diagnostic tools should be used before it comes to the magnetic resonance imagining“, concluded Izetbegovic.
