Young developers from Sarajevo with their innovations and initiative “Smart Sarajevo” are persuaded the world’s biggest companies including IBM, Arduino, Apple and others, to invest in Sarajevo and install the latest “smart city” IOT technology in the world.
The technology and concepts are already presented on the biggest “Internet of Things” world forum in the USA by the CTO (Technical Director) IBM, like something that will change the future. Within this initiative, the technology park HUB387 held a two-week event “City OS”.
For the first time, on 7th March in Sarajevo, the “City OS” hackathon will be held. “City OS” hackathon is based on last year’s successful hackathon, which took place in the technology park HUB387 (building Bosmal City Center) and has already produced four successful startup which is working on the future technologies in the famous NEST71 (h) accelerator.
“City OS” hackathon is a part of an initiative of citizens from Sarajevo named “Smart Sarajevo”.
“Smart Sarajevo” is an initiative of young, successful and enterprising people, who aim to create a more beautiful, better and happier future for citizens of Sarajevo and abroad. This initiative is supported by young developers, environmentalists, electronics, architects, artists, photographers, economists and many others.
“City OS” hackathon is an event that will take place over two week-ends. The first week-end the 7th and 8th of March will be dedicated to the transmission of knowledge about the technologies of the future to the young generation. Practical workshops will be held by the greatest experts from around the world, including full training for Apple iOS development, Arduino electronic, IBM cloud service, Google v8 (node) and angular, and etc…
The second weekend will mark the famous 48-hour hackathon in which will participate the best developers, engineers and hackers from the region. The winner of this prestigious event will get ownership in the startups, MacBook Pro, office space, an initial capital for startup and daily mentorship by successful entrepreneurs from San Francisco and Washington DC,.
The call is open to the best developers, engineers, and other young enthusiasts who want to use their knowledge and creative work to improve the future of this city. Admission is free and sponsored by friends of Sarajevo: Swedish Embassy, Maclean’s, Red Bull, IBM, Arduino, and many others willing to engage in this phenomenal initiative.
