On the basis of the Public Call for subsidizing air traffic in the area of the Sarajevo Canton, which was held on November 28, 2023 announced by the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton with the aim of developing tourism, three new airlines will be established.

Thus, from Sarajevo, it will soon fly directly to Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece and to Warsaw in Poland.

The Expert Evaluation Committee, after considering the received applications, determined in the minutes that five timely applications were received according to the Public Call and unanimously stated that four companies namely: POLSKIE LINIE LOTNICZE “LOT” S.A., RYANAIR DAC, AEGEAN AIRLINES S.A. and TUI AIRWAYS submitted the proper documentation requested by the Public Invitation, and will conclude contracts with the same.

The Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton in cooperation with the Government of Sarajevo Canton, i.e. the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton and Sarajevo International Airport continues with the activities of introducing new direct airlines through subsidizing airlines, all with the aim of improving and developing the tourism sector in Sarajevo Canton.

Also, this time the public call made it possible for Aegean Airlines to confirm the operation of flights from Sarajevo to Skopje throughout the year. Also, thanks to the incentives, the airline TUI AIRWAYS will continue to operate flights between London and Sarajevo, which are extremely important for the development of winter tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lot Polish airline re-establishes flights to Warsaw.
Unfortunately, Norwegian Air Shuttle, which plans to establish flights to Scandinavia, has not submitted all the necessary documentation required by the Public Invitation.

The new public call for subsidizing air traffic in the area of Sarajevo Canton will be an opportunity for all airlines that have potential and significance for the tourist market, numerous diaspora and citizens, Klix.ba writes.
