Construction of the center for children and youth IKRE started in the Sarajevo settlement Zabrdje.
The project is funded by the Majlis of the Islamic Community Sarajevo – Jamaat Zabrdje, and it is intended for additional education and upbringing of children and youth. At the same time, informative campaign titled “Uči, radi, gradi” (Study, Work, Build) started, in which all the details of the construction of the future center will be presented to the public, as currently the most significant project of its kind in the Sarajevo Canton.
Until now, 340.000 BAM were invested for the purchase of land in the street Avde Palica and equipping of new rooms. According to the plans, the users of the center will have a restaurant with a cafeteria and divanhana at their disposal already next year. The center is currently disposing with 220 square meters of area, of which 180 square meters are being rented as office space.
“Research has been conducted at the territory of the Sarajevo Canton which showed that people are seeking for a refuge and a way to withstand aggressive thrusts to everything normal, healthy, and useful as a response to the shaken moral and living values. Our aim is to make an educational center of diverse and rich contents for our children, youth, and adults. In this way, we strive to keep children and youth off the streets and bet shops, and as an alternative offer them a space where they can entertain and educate – all at the same time. We are aware of the conditions which we are in, and it is clear to us that unhealthy and useless contents are everywhere. That is why, together with everyone who recognizes this project as their own and significant for Sarajevo and broader area, we want to build the IKRE center as a place for gathering, studying, upbringing, work, and socializing on the foundations of healthy values”, said the President of the Construction Board of the IKRE center, Safet Mesanovic.
Thanks to the active engagement of the Jamaat Zabrdje which recognized the needs of today’s children, youth, but parents also, the users will get a place which offers quality contents for the entire family. Covering an area of 6.503,25 square meters, IKRE center will offer kindergarten, sports halls and fields, library, overnight stay rooms, outdoor stage, office and business spaces, professional trainings, foreign language courses, computer courses, instruction lessons, restaurant, cafeteria, and a lot more.
IKRE center will be constructed in several stages.
