Music Staircase in Sarajevo klix.baTenants of the Pruščakova Streets are about to receive a new staircase, which will be designed in an interesting and unique way. Resting stops will be built along the staircase – special benches on which people will be able to relax and listen to the music of legendary BH singers and bands who once had gigs at the Sloga Sarajevo club.

The main project of the staircase in Pruščakova was drafted by the company Firma Ltd. Sarajevo, and the work is to be undertaken by Harysco Ltd. Sarajevo.

“The project envisions eight rest areas, three of which are directly linked with the entrance to  residential buildings. Chairs and tables for playing chess, and street furniture such as benches and chairs to rest and observe the city from a specific perspective, are also foreseen. Info boards and dustbins are to be placed at certain places. In addition to the existing pillars of the city’s public lighting, additional illumination for the stairs is planned, as well as grass planting and soil consolidation”, said Safet Huremović from the Municipality Center Sarajevo.

Given the fact that the staircase is close in proximity to Sloga, it will be dedicated to the musicians whose work was related to that club. Great hits from Indexi and bands such as Pro-Arte, Bijelo Dugme, Merlin, Prijatelji, New Primitives, and Rock Under Siege might be played. This way, the benches would have an educational role as well.

“Interactive music boxes are designed, within which it is possible to reproduce famous works of the selected artists. In addition, a short bilingual biography of each artist will be provided. The mentioned music boxes are located in the central part of the staircase”, said Huremović.

The investor of the project is the Municipality Centar, which allocated 650,000 BAM from the budget for this purpose. The staircase will have a length of 57 meters. Through these works, the reconstruction of the water supply and sewage network under the stairs, which is old and dilapidated, will be caried out as well. The construction period is 90 days from the date of signing the contract, or more precisely, from the commencement of works, which is late March, 2015.

“Please note that this is yet another in a series of major projects (the works at the staircases in Kaptol and Veliki Park are in progress), which is funded by the Municipality Centar for the needs of the citizens in order to improve the quality of living”, Huremović said.

The responsibility of supervision for the construction of the project was given to the Institute for the Development of Canton Sarajevo.
