Sarovic: Christian Schmidt is not welcome in RS if he plans to use Bonn Powers

Mirko Sarovic, President of the SDS, said yesterday that he thinks that the parliament is the only place where a law or decisions of such a nature can be made in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) now, and not a man who has the ambition to be the supreme authority for the interpretation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“This intention has so much depth that we need to think about. We have supported two laws in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NA of RS) and that is an adequate response, it will probably not be stopped at it, and there will be a need for joint responses in the following weeks and months, taking into account “conflicting interests while we seek solutions in which any issue will be removed from the competence of the High Representative and placed in the BiH Parliament or other parliaments that can decide,” told Sarovic.

He stressed that this is a very complex period, and for yesterday’s session of the NARS he said that it is very significant.

“This is perhaps one of the most delicate moments for BiH and we need to take this into account and assess any repercussions that may happen after Inzko’s decision,” he added.

Further, he mentioned that the focus of RS should not be on the content of his decision.

“We should not in any way insult or strike at those we should not hit, who should not suffer because of our political disagreements, especially the families of the dead. But Inzko’s intention was to impose a decision by force of law in a country that has the ambition to be sovereign. He has no right to do so, “Sarovic noted.

Also, he said it is a message to the new High Representative, Christian Schmidt, who was supposed to come to BiH yesterday.

“Such a practice cannot be continued. But if Inzko has done so, so will Schmidt, to whom we will say that we do not agree with it, that he has no right to do such thing, and that he needs to face the facts that are sent to him by RS political representatives,” Sarovic said.

He pointed out that the opposition agrees with the authorities on these issues, since it is in the general interest, but that there are huge differences between them in all other issues.

“But our political and other differences regarding the country’s leadership, RS governance, and key issues in the country still remain and we are absolutely on opposite sides. That was yesterday, today, and it will remain like that. It is a response to our citizens in the position of the SDS today. We have not discussed the proposal of a concentration government, the SDS will not participate in it, and it is not acceptable,” he added.

He also sent a message to Christian Schmidt if he decides to usethe Bonn powers.

“We believe that the Bonn powers will not be used at all, that there is no right to do so, and that there will be a rejection in the RS. If he comes with the Bonn powers, then he is not welcome in RS and his mission will fail since he will be one of those who brought a new crisis in BiH. I expect that it will not happen. He comes from a serious country, he is a serious politician and I think he understands the environment in which he came. I don’t think it will occur to him to reach for such powers, but if that happens, I think it will be an escalation of unimaginable proportions,” he concluded, Klix.ba writes.
