Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović held a press conference yesterday, where he spoke about several important and current issues. He informed the public that preparations for the arrival of the inspector of the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Union, who will monitor the systems in the field of food, are in progress, but he also announced that the procedure for amending the Law on Excise Taxes has been launched.
Arrival of the inspection from the FVO is expected between March 14 and 25. In order for the report to be positive and in order for the agricultural producers from BiH to freely export milk and dairy products to the EU market, BiH must complete all preparations within the coming 30 days. However, BiH is still harmonizing its plan. The mission will visit at least two dairies that have been granted permission for export, as well as a certain number of farms.
“So far, we have two laws harmonized –amendments to the Law on Agriculture and the Law on Veterinary Medicine. What we still have to do is to harmonize the law on food so that, hopefully, we will manage to complete all obligations in the coming period,” Šarović said.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations launched a procedure for amending the Law on Excise Taxes, in order to implement the initiative related to the blue diesel. The initiative was adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Steering Committee of the Indirect Taxation Authority expressed a positive opinion.
“We expect that, with the adoption of this implementation regarding the blue diesel, agricultural producers from BiH, as well as those from the countries of the region, will be able to use all benefits by the end of the year,” Šarović highlighted.
Moreover, Šarović announced that BiH is to sign a global document on climate changes in April. Besides that, he also announced today’s beginning of negotiations about the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the delegation from Brussels.
