”It would be wise not to declare victory until the last battle for the candidate status of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is won and it is necessary to wait for the official decision of the heads of the European Union (EU) member states on Thursday,” Johann Sattler, the head of the Delegation of the EU to BiH, said yesterday in Sarajevo.
Namely, he expressed his satisfaction because after the session of the General Affairs Council of the EU, positive information and strong messages came in the direction of the decision on granting candidate status.
He reminded that in June, the discussion on BiH lasted for three hours, and although the chances are good, we should wait for Thursday, but it will be a big step forward for BiH, because before open negotiations on membership, it is necessary to obtain formal candidate status.
”Without that step, there are no other steps, but I very clearly emphasized that after granting that status, it is necessary to see concrete activities and concrete work the very next day,”underlined Sattler.
The candidate status should therefore be a message to the newly elected authorities to work dynamically and fundamentally to fulfill the key criteria that are in front of BiH.
”That status will be a signal to the rest of the world and to investors who want to come and invest in BiH,” concluded the head of the Delegation of the EU in BiH, Johann Sattler, Vijesti.ba reports.
