Sehic: The Council of Ministers violates the Constitution of BiH and the Election Law

In the last local elections, funds for the organization of elections were not provided in time, which is why the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) decided to postpone them for 45 days, but the way the Council of Ministers of BiH acted yesterday is a violation of the law. This was said in an interview with Vehid Sehic, President of the Strategic Committee of the Coalition “Pod Lupom” (Under the Magnifying Glass) and a former member of the CEC of BiH.

”It is absolutely unacceptable that the decision on approving the funds of the CEC of BiH was not made within the legally prescribed deadline. The deadline is 15 days from the decision on calling the elections and that is the legal obligation of the Council of Ministers of BiH. Failure to provide funds is a violation of the BiH Election Law, but in this way, it prevents or attempts to prevent citizens from the right guaranteed by the Constitution to vote and be elected,” Sehic emphasized.
