Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BIH Renzo Daviddi said that the issue of the enforcement of the “Sejdić-Finci” cause will not disappear, but would rather gain in importance and urgency, and that the progress of its implementation would enable the EU to allow into entry the Stabilization and Association Agreement and submission of a credible application for membership.
He said that the EU Delegation and the Office of the Special Representative will be available to institutional and political leaders in BIH and would help in achieving progress in the implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
“It is up to political leaders to become engaged in achieving the necessary political agreement’’, said Daviddi for ‘Glas Srpske’.
He said that there are delays for the BIH path to the EU due to domestic politics and that the EU is very disappointed by prominent politicians who do not have the leadership necessary to progress at a time when countries in the region are moving forward.
Daviddi recalled that the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Štefan Fule would invite participants from BIH on 1 October at a third meeting as part of dialogue at a high level on the accession process in Brussels, where the main topic would be the “Sejdić-Finci” decision, coordination mechanisms and problems in adapting the Stabilization and Association Agreement after Croatia’s accession to the EU.
He said that due to the situation in the FBIH, all of BIH is suffering, and he added that BIH could still catch up with countries in the region on their European path.
