After the great victory of the basketball team of BiH in the first round of the group “E” of qualifiers for the World Cup in China in 2019 against Russia with a score 81:76, selector Dusko Vujosevic noted that he is very happy that the young team of BiH achieved this victory against such a great opponent.
“I am very happy that this young team won against Russia, which has very good players, despite the fact that they were weakened. I believe that the audience had the opportunity to enjoy the match full of desire on both sides and our players cared a lot. I would like to thank the audience for their support because it came at the right moment – when we needed it the most. We are very happy but we have no time to celebrate because we are going to France. We will be playing a new match on Monday and we have to be prepared. Russia is a great opponent and I congratulate them on a great fight. I am happy because we managed to defeat one great opponent,” said Vujosevic.
BH representative Amar Gegic played a great match with Russia, and he was one of the heroes of this victory.
“The Russians entered the match in a much more energetic way and they controlled the match in the attack. But we came around and played better and better throughout the match. Our audience was our sixth player in the most important moment and led us to our final victory. We have to continue in this way and I believe that we can achieve a good result at the end of qualifiers. Moreover, I would like to congratulate our players on the great fight and energy that led us to the victory,” stated Amar Gegic.
