The Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has upheld the verdict of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla, which found Emir Selimović guilty of the murder of his wife and minor son, making the verdict final.
Selimović was sentenced to a single long-term prison sentence of 45 years for two criminal offenses of murder committed in a treacherous manner.
According to the verdict of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla, Selimović committed murder by suffocation on February 12, 2025, in a shared apartment in Kalesija, while his wife and son were sleeping.
The court determined individual long-term prison sentences of 44 years each for the murder of his wife S.I. and his minor son born in 2011, after which, by applying the provisions on concurrence, a single sentence of 45 years in prison was imposed, which is the legal maximum.
The Cantonal Court in Tuzla stated that this is the highest sentence provided for by criminal legislation that the court has so far imposed in cases for the most serious forms of criminal offenses within its jurisdiction.
