academyThe Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is one of the most prestigious in the world, and Selmir Omic, a member of the Armed Forces of BiH, arrived there in January 2016, after the Armed Forces announced a competition for the soldiers.

Sandhurst is more than 200 years old Royal Military Academy. It was attended by Winston Churchill, Prince Harry and Field Marshal Montgomery. Before joining the academy, Omic said that he had to pass the tests of general knowledge, English and physical education.

omicAcademy admits new class of cadets every 4 months, and there are two other cadets from BiH, Frano Laus and Eldin Hrapovic.

Arrival at the academy changed a lot in Omic’s life. He explained that the Academy made him physically and mentally stronger person. It makes a leader from ordinary soldier, who is ready to remain calm and ready to lead his troops even in the worst conditions.

“I started using what I have learned here even outside the Academy,” added Omic.

Staying in the UK is very interesting for him, and he is especially delighted with diversity of cultures. He is using hsi free weekends to visit different cities and famous tourist attractions.

He did not have a chance to see any of the Royal Family yet, but he sincerely hopes for that to happen by the end of the training.

Omic will stay in the UK until the end of the training, on the 16th of December 2016, when a solemn parade will be held at which he will receive the initial rank of officer. After training, he will join the Armed Forces of BiH, and his plans for the future are to gain as much experience as possible in the military career and to attend the following officers’ course in the UK or some other country.
