Serbia and BiH agreed Joint Maintenance of 11 Bridges

bridgeJoint jurisdiction of Serbia and BiH on maintenance of 11 from 13 bridges that are located between the two countries was agreed, said the State Secretary in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Miodrag Poledica.

On the border between Serbia and BiH are bridges at three border rivers Sava, Uvac and Drina, and it was agreed that Serbia maintains six bridges and BiH to maintain five.

“In the last 20 or more years nobody systematically took care about these bridges. Now we have reached an agreement on the maintenance of these bridges that connect our two countries,” said Poledica.

Serbia will maintain bridges on Drina River, and BiH will take care of two bridges across Sava River and three over Uvac River.

“Yesterday we had a meeting between the official delegations of Serbia and BiH, which followed two weeks after the meeting between Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and President of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic, and the topic was the maintenance of bridges between our two countries,” said Poledica.

He recalled that they are jointly building a bridge over Drina Ljubovija-Bratunac and that they are planning the establishment of joint border crossing in Bratunac.

Joint border crossing means noted Poledica, that border-crossing procedure will be simplified, and retention time of passengers and goods will be maximally reduced since the border services of both countries will be under one roof.

“The border services of both countries will work together to help the flow of goods and people to be as fast as possible,” added Poledica.
