The competent institutions of Serbia, besides from fruit and vegetables, are taking additional control over all dairy and meat products that are imported into Serbia from Croatia.

“Vecernje Novosti” report that each parcel is additionally sampled and does not go on sale until the whole analysis is performed, which lasts at least 15 days and a maximum of 30 days.

“Serbia is conducting its measures with the aim to protect our country,” said Minister of Agriculture of Serbia, Branislav Nedimovic.

The main reason for contradiction measures are inappropriately high taxes on fruit and vegetable imports, which Croatia has introduced to Serbia and some other regional countries.

This is the response of the authorities of Serbia to the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture of Croatia, which increased the import tax rate by 22 times on fruits and vegetables that are coming from non-EU countries on July 15.
